Tuesday 10th March

Drac's third visit.

When I met the children on Tuesday morning they were able to tell me all about Drac's third visit. I took some photos too.

This is what they said:

"When we came in on Monday morning one of our tables had been tipped over with two chairs. There was a chocolate coin on the floor. The table that had the letter on it was pulled out with a gap in the middle.

The dragon on the radiator had been moved. It was upside-down with it's head off the radiator on Christian's box.

Drac drew a picture of himself and left it on the table with our letter. He left answers to our questions. He still wants to be our friend.

Drac wanted to know what a Tooth Fairy was. He doesn't lose his teeth like us. They grow and grow and get sharper and sharper. That's weird. Thats why he wanted to know who the Tooth Fairy is."
Today was also very special because we got a parcel from our friends in Japan.
There were sweets. Fruit flavoured.
Letters from each child in the class along with an English translation.
Maps.
The answers to some of the questions we had asked.
Along with photographs of some of their favourite foods.

Tuesday 3rd March.

Questions and answers.

After Assembly, the morning started with the children setting our seed potatoes ready to start chitting. These are part of the competition run every year by the Potato Council. The winner is the school which produces the heaviest weight of potatoes when they are harvested in June.
The two varieties being grown this year are Rocket and Vales Emerald. There are two seed potatoes of each variety.
After chitting, our seed potatoes will be planted on Tuesday 17th March.

This morning we had a visit from our PCSO (Community Police Officer) after playtime. He very kindly came in to talk to the class about their very strange visitor and give some good advice. Listening very carefully to all the children had to say, he was told of the problems we were having in agreeing what to do about the sweets that had been left for us by Drac. Reminding the children that it was never a good idea to take anything from a stranger, we decided that it would be best for the sweets to be packaged up and returned to Drac.

Mrs Hague offered to replace the sweets herself so that the children would not be disappointed. This was generally agreed to be a good idea.

Friday 27th February.

Finding out about dragons.

Friday was a really busy day. Mrs Garratt finished off the dragons head and the children made the body by cutting out pieces of gold wallpaper and sweet wrappers. The pieces were then stuck to a long piece of wallpaper to make the body of the dragon. It now all hangs on the classroom wall.

We now just need to finish off the tail, unless the children feel that there is more we should add. I have added all their written questions about dragons around the body. One wonderful question asks

"Do dragons want revenge for what St George did?"

We also worked to put together some questions for Drac, just in case she (or he) came back over the weekend.

In the afternoon we used the internet to find out some facts about dragons. We will look at these more carefully on Monday.
